Traditional Chai Base

 

Spice it up, the classic way. This chai base brings together ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel, cloves, black pepper, and nutmeg for a bold, warming cup. Perfect as the foundation for your favorite chai latte—hot or iced—Sipology-style.

Ingredients: Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Fennel seeds, Cloves, Black pepper, Nutmeg.



TRADITIONAL METHOD USING STOVETOP Makes: 4-5 cups You will need: 1 Saucepan (6 cups) 2½ cups of water 2 tsp of Masala Chai Base Sweetener of choice (sugar, honey, jaggery) 2½ cups of milk 3 tsp Irish Breakfast, black tea Directions: 1. Bring water, chai base and sweetener to a boil in saucepan. 2. Simmer for 5 minutes or until fragrant. 3. Add Irish Breakfast and brew for 2 minutes. 4. Add milk and bring back to boil on high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. 5. Carefully strain into your favorite tea pot. Enjoy! Tip: Substitute Irish Breakfast for tea of your choice. For a caffeine-free chai, use Rooibos tea.
